Editorial Standards & Data Methodology

How we source listings, compute our market data, and what we do — and don't — claim.

This page explains who publishes the content on ListingLedge, where our data comes from, how our market statistics are computed, and what we do — and deliberately do not — claim. It applies to every article, market report, and city guide on this site.

Who publishes this content

ListingLedge content is produced and reviewed by the ListingLedge editorial team. We operate a hospitality marketplace covering restaurants for sale and lease, food trucks, commercial kitchens, and event spaces, with our deepest listing coverage in South Carolina and coverage extending across the United States. We do not publish under invented personal bylines — content is attributed to ListingLedge as an organization, and this page, linked from our articles, is the single place our standards are stated.

How listings are sourced

Listings on ListingLedge are submitted directly by sellers, lessors, brokers, and operators. Listing details — prices, revenue figures, square footage, lease terms, equipment lists — are self-reported by the people who post them.

  • ListingLedge does not independently verify sellers, financial claims, or listing details.
  • ListingLedge does not endorse any listing, seller, or broker; a listing's presence on the platform is not a recommendation.
  • Buyers must conduct their own due diligence — reviewing financial records, inspecting premises, and engaging their own attorney and accountant — before any transaction.

How market statistics are computed

Market figures on ListingLedge — median asking prices, listing counts, price ranges, metro breakdowns — are computed directly from live listing data on the platform at the time a page is generated. They are not estimates, projections, or figures licensed from third parties.

  • Medians over averages. We report medians so a single unusually large listing cannot distort the headline number.
  • Sample sizes shown. Every statistic is published with the number of listings behind it (n=), so readers can judge its weight for themselves.
  • Asking vs. sold, never blended. Asking-price statistics come from active listings; sold-price data comes from completed transactions. We label which is which and never combine them into one figure.
  • Live updates. Numbers change as inventory changes, and we date-stamp reports so citations can be anchored in time.

Limitations of our data

We would rather understate than oversell. Our statistics reflect listings on ListingLedge, not every transaction in a market. In smaller markets and newer categories, sample sizes are small, and small samples move sharply when a few listings are added or removed. Underlying listing details are self-reported and unverified. Our figures are useful directional signals — a real, current view of what sellers are asking and what tracked sales have closed for — but they are not appraisals, and no statistic on this site is a substitute for a professional valuation of a specific business.

Our claims policy

Everything we publish describes the platform and the market as they are today, in the present tense. We do not inflate listing counts, invent user numbers, describe unverified parties as "verified," or promise capabilities the product does not currently have. Where we cite a number, the data behind it exists and can be counted. Where we express an opinion or a rule of thumb, we label it as such.

Corrections and contact

If you find an error in an article, a market statistic that doesn't add up, or a listing that misrepresents itself, we want to know. Contact us through the contact page or email support@listingledge.com. We review correction requests, fix confirmed errors in place, and materially revised market reports carry their current data date. This page is maintained by ListingLedge and updated whenever our editorial or data practices change.
